Having seen the struggles my parents faced whilst caring for my brother with a severe physical disability and associated learning difficulties and my own experience with our daughter with spina bifida, I feel incredibly passionate about supporting parents. For me, when I have been in the midst of an incredibly challenging time as Mum, whether it has been trying to manage our daughter’s medical complexities, emotional difficulties, source supplies or contact relevant professionals, I have wished that I had someone to hold my hand through it all. I have wished that there could have been someone who had an understanding of the situation, who would help to guide me through it, someone who would have checked in on how I was doing and who would have asked if I needed any help. In the form of Kynde, I would like to be that person for others.

1:1 Work

If you have a child with additional needs, I can work with you on a 1:1 basis. I can meet with you to listen to how things are for you and your child and offer my support. After we meet I can make suggestions about how you might be able to move forward in your situation. I will aim to empower you with skills that you will be able to use to make a positive difference to both your life and that of your child with additional needs – and hopefully the whole family.

Coffee & Cake Sessions

I run coffee and cake sessions for parents/carers of children with SEND. The aim of the sessions is for parents and carers to share their expertise, and their worries, in a relaxed and friendly setting. Through groups I have facilitated, I have seen new friendships grow and support networks formed.

I have one group running at the moment. We meet between 10am and 12pm on the second Wednesday of every month at The Fibre Hub, Trevenson Lane, Pool, Redruth, Cornwall TR15 3GF. There is no payment attached to attending the group. I just hope that you might treat yourself to a delicious drink, and perhaps a cake, from the lovely Nimbus Kitchen, situated in the front of The Fibre Hub, before coming up to the 2nd floor sofas for a chat. We explore all SEND-related topics, with compassion and understanding, looking to alleviate some of the loneliness that can be the world of a SEND parent. Our next 2024 meet ups are: Weds 16th October, Weds 13th Nov, Weds 11th Dec. Moving into 2025 we have: Weds 15th Jan and Weds 12th Feb.
